SB 1712 - Oklahoma Puppy mill Bill has passed

Today (4-29-2010) was a good day in our never ending battle for Animal Rights in Oklahoma. Today the final roadblock was overcome, permitting the passage of SB1712, the Commercial Breeder's Bill (aka: puppy mill bill or black-market breeder's bill). The bill in now going to Governor Henry where I'm sure he will sign it into law. I want to thank all of you for your support of this small step to bring Oklahoma out of the animal rights dark ages. We must follow its progress toward enforcement.

  1. I am so happy that this bill has passed. I live infront of a puppy mill and until Know there wasn't much that could be done in Oklahoma. We have no humane society where I live and the surounding areas would not lend a hand to in this sad situation. Thanks to everyone that has fought to get the bill passed maybe know something will be done.

  2. Getting the puppy mill bill passed was only the first step. We now have to get the 8 member board in place and set up regulations that breeders will need to follow. If you have a specific problem with a breeder near you, remember, there are still animal abuse laws that may have been broken.

  3. If anonymous would like to inform me by email about where the suspected puppy mill operation is located, I would be glad to investigate. Nothing will be divulged about where I got the information. You can get some help in fighting or reporting this. My email address is bpstauss@sbcglobal.net
